The most prestigious classic car concours in the world.
Historic Formula 1 cars and motorsport legends — fourth chapter.
The Temple of Speed — Formula 1, the tifosi, and a century of heritage.
I am drawn to moments that feel inevitable, where light, timing and composition work quietly without asking for attention. Three principles guide every frame.
The climax often lives in the in-between: the choreography of the pit box, hands moving with mechanical precision, a glance from the pit wall, the quiet before the noise.
Through panning and controlled motion blur, I translate speed into emotion, making time, not only the subject, part of the frame itself.
Trackside or backstage, the aim is always the same: timeless, cinematic images able to capture not only what happened, but what it felt like.
I have been drawn to cars since childhood. And yes, I used to colour them red.
My family has a deep connection with racing: several relatives competed or held important roles within automotive associations.
My ancestor Rienzo Slawitz was a known driver in 1923. In a Fiat 501, he challenged the Milan-Rome express train and beat it to the capital by one hour.
This background is where my passion for photographing cars comes from: capturing the vibrant spirit of this world and the stories of drivers, mechanics and spectators, without whom racing would not exist.
Four chapters, one narrative. Every event is a world of cars, rituals and people, told as editorial heritage.
The motorsport I photograph is not only competition. It is the legacy of an era, preserved in details that could otherwise disappear. Each archive is a chapter in a book still being written.
Biennial event by the Automobile Club de Monaco, the Grand Prix Historique turns the streets of the Principality into a stage for four-wheeled legends. Since 1997, it has brought together some of the world’s rarest historic Formula 1 cars on the most iconic circuit: Sainte-Dévote, the Loews hairpin, the dark tunnel and the harbour view.
Here I photographed pitlane warm-ups, cars ready on the grid, Ferrari parade views and Monegasque flags around the Casino: Formula 1 when it still smelled of petrol and hot oil.
Called by Enzo Ferrari “the most beautiful race in the world”, the Mille Miglia embodies Italian motorsport as passion, history and art. Since 1927, this unique endurance event has run from Brescia to Rome and back, a stage for vintage cars crossing towns, squares and lives.
In my images I try to capture not only speed and the courage of the drivers, but also the fervent emotion of the crowd and the unique scenic beauty around the race. This is where my work received two Bruno Boni Photo Contest awards.
An annual event celebrating the legacy of Scuderia Minardi. Classic Formula 1 cars, exhibitions and sessions with motorsport legends create a tribute that reconnects fans with the rich history of Formula 1.
Here I photographed paddock atmosphere, quiet moments before the race, Imola details and the suspended rhythms of the historic paddock.
Endurance racing is more than a test of speed: it is coordination, adaptability and resilience. Imola, with its history and technical corners, is where precision driving becomes essential.
Here I documented Ferrari’s rebirth with the 499P, corner jumps, podium crowds, flags and fragments of a race where every second carries a story.

Start a conversationThe same editorial method, applied to subjects beyond motorsport. Hospitality, watchmaking, lifestyle and territory — wherever there is a story made of light, time and quiet attention.
I am Simone Slawitz, an Italian photographer with an editorial approach and a precise, restrained aesthetic inspired by the heritage of motorsport.
Motorsport is my natural habitat: my images narrate speed and silence, the human dimension and rituals beyond the track, honouring the heritage of this world.
My work has been recognised at the Bruno Boni Photography Competition (winner 2023 and Best B&W Award 2025) and exhibited at the Cavallerizza Art Gallery in Brescia. I work with brands and editorial outlets that appreciate the fusion of motorsport heritage and contemporary elegance.
Editorial publications, institutional recognition and exhibitions: work that has found a place beyond the portfolio.
“(Beyond) The Race” is not only a title. It is the direction.
Motorsport remains the root: passion, family history and an editorial eye. But the world around racing deserves to be told with the same care: architecture, travel, people and visual culture. The places motorsport brings me to, and the stories they hold.
For editorial collaborations, brand commissions and sporting events. Every story begins with a conversation.
